Spring cleaning is the order of the week here. I've been reorganizing, weeding out and cleaning up the yarn, fiber, fabric and scrapbooking supplies. Oh my, what a chore! However, I did finally get to these blocks because they absolutely must go to the quilter this week. I need to have this quilt done for the Sister's Quilt Show this summer. These are the blocks I won in the block contest last year. I loved these fabrics and colors more than any other of the contests I've participated in, so it was just fabulous to win them. If you are interested in joining the fun this year, you can read about it here. The theme this year is black and white and I've already sent in my block.
Last year's contest packet had 5 colors of Kaffe Fassett shot cottons in honor of the Gee's Bend quilters who were here for the show. My block is on the bottom right. I really took to heart the Gee's Bend theme. Another quilter in my guild made the fabulous log cabin flowers in the middle of the top row. I added the blue sashing and my beloved millefiori design for the border. For ease of the photography I put it up on top of the green quilt you can see there. In fact, the size of this one means it will be a perfect candidate for hanging in this space. More photos when I get it completed. This week is my quilt guild's retreat and I may not be able to post until next week. In the meantime, happy quilting!
