Tonye Belinda Phillips, Alex Anderson, and friends at one of the teacher tables.
The Friday night Picnic in the Park is second only to the quilt show itself. Quilter's Affair teachers, quilt show sponsors, Friends of the SOQS, and lots of other quilt fans join together for a fun meal and a wonderful showing of quilts.

Valori Wells and Jean Wells
After dinner we were entertained by Jean and Valori, the Gee's Bend Quilters, Alex Anderson, Laura Wasilowski and lots of quilts! The children you see in the following photos are Jean's grandkids. They were so cute!
Mary Ann Pettway, China Pettway, Lucy Witherspoon and Stella Mae Pettway
First up were the Quilter's of Gee's Bend. They sang some songs, and showed an amazing array of quilts.
Next up were the Stitchin' Post Employee Challenge quilts. Jean introduced them and gave the name of the maker which I've noted below, except for some that I don't know. The theme this year was Timeless Tapestry.

Lastly, Laura Wasilowski sang an original song about the quilt show. It was great and left everyone laughing!

What a fun night. If you've been paying attention, you'll realize that the next few posts will be about the quilt show itself! I have many photos to go through and I'll try to post every day until they are all up, but I also need some sewing time so please be patient!
