First impressions

Sometimes unschooling looks like school.  Chloe has liked the Summer Bridge Activity books for several years and she decided to bring them on the trip.  She's been working through the 6-7 book on her own and today she was sitting here using the computer while researching some answers for the book.  She has a goal to finish this book and get started on the 7-8 book.  These kinds of things come up periodically, though.  Unschooling takes many forms in our house.  If someone had seen her at work today they might have thought that we use workbooks on a regular basis.  Looks can be deceiving, though.  When a child chooses workbooks on her own the learning is also her own.  I'm glad she has the freedom to choose.
