Wishing

It's that time of year again!  Time for the Wish Upon a Card fundraiser organized by the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show to benefit the St. Charles Cancer Center.  This year 50  cards will be chosen to be framed and sold at silent auction.  Last year I had 3 chosen.  You can see those three and lots of other beautiful cards here.  It was a great honor to have them in the auction, I can only hope to have one in it this year.

For me, this fundraiser is very personal because I'm a patient at the Cancer Treatment Center.  In fact, I was just there this week for a followup appointment.  It's been almost 2 years since my breast cancer diagnosis and I'm doing great!  I'm actually a two time survivor since I also had thyroid cancer 18 years ago.

I am wishing to defeat cancer forever, but in the meantime I'm grateful for the people and research who have made it possible for me to go on.  To see my children grow, to see this beautiful world, to enjoy every day to the fullest.

There are lots of other fundraisers to benefit cancer patients in communities all around the world.  Coming up, here in Bend we have the Heaven Can Wait walk,  Relay for Life and the Tour Des Chutes bike ride.  If you have access to any of these sorts of activities in your area I hope you'll get involved.  Here's to wishing for a world without cancer.
