Candle dipping

094

Candle dipping is always a favorite winter activity for us.  These were made on Christmas Eve.  I have found that an old rice cooker with the warm/cook setting is just right to melt the wax.  The wax goes in an old can (preferably as tall and narrow as you can find), and is surrounded by water.  Set it on cook for melting, warm for dipping.  When it starts to cool down, just put it on cook again for a few minutes.

The kids and I made a bunch of red ones, but green ones will be made soon.  As you can see, we used old candle stubs for these.  Re-using that wax is so satisfying!
