QuiltCon 2017 :: Show Floor & Top Winners

It's always exciting when the doors finally open for the show!  Dozens of people waited by the doors until 10 am when there was a rush to get started.  I actually first came in from the back entrance, but here's what you would have seen from the main entrance.  The top winners are above (more on them below).

The view above was right down the middle of the show.  These two quilts were the first stunners in my mind.  In fact, Lincoln ended up with People's Choice, so lots of others appreciated it too.  The eye candy is always amazing and one person can't hope to photograph everything (unless paid to do so, of course).  So, I know I missed some amazing work, but I hope you enjoy the views I did manage to capture.

Below are the top winners from the show.  Congratulations to all!

Best in Show Winner:  "bling" by Katherine Jones from Australia (Instagram ID @twocatsquilts).  This amazing quilt was created with paper piecing.  Katherine was flown to Savannah by the MQG so she could accept her award in person, quite a generous move on their part!

Best Machine Quilting Framed: "Madonna" by Brittany Bowen Burton (Instagram ID @brittanybowenburton), Quilted by Natalia Bonner.

Best Machine Quilting Frameless: "Not Easy Being Green" by Mary Keasler (Instagram ID @mizcontrary).

Free Spirit Award of Quilting Excellence:  "Go North" by Maritza Soto (Instagram ID @sotosewn)
