Mod Flowers

The past couple of weeks have been a busy time as I get used to a new routine.  Working at the Stitchin' Post has been lots of fun. It's especially nice to help people choose fabric and to schmooze about quilts and fabric.  The SP gets a lot of tourists as it's a destination shop, so that's fun too.  However, it's still a tiring day and I've had meetings after work that make the day even longer.  As I get more familiar things will get easier I think and it's only 2 days a week!  Anyway, it means Wednesdays are for catching up.

27" x 27"
machine pieced, hand appliqued, machine quilted

For instance, this little piece sat on the table waiting for quilting for at least a couple of weeks.  I finally got down to it and it was fun!  I did a last minute look through two books for ideas- Free Motion Quilting with Angela Walters and First Steps to Free Motion Quilting  by Christina Camelli.  I ended up doing Angela Walter's back and forth on the vase, a spiral on the flowers and various sized pebbles on the background.  It helped that this was a small piece, but, yes, my free motion skills are definitely improving!

This quilt was made for the Black to White challenge for Pacific Northwest Modern Quilt Guilds.  Chosen quilts will be exhibited at the Quilt! Knit! Stitch! show in Portland, OR this August.  I am entering this quilt and one more.  I'll post the other one next time!
