In addition to using up scraps, my goal this year is to finish some of the UFOs hanging around here. This one started many years ago in a class with Tonye Phillips. I had the appliqued center medallion finished, but wasn’t sure what to do with it. Since I was making scrappy log cabins this winter I decided to keep making them, but using some bright and happy prints. These blocks are smaller than the usual ones, just 5.5 inches finished. That’s because I have a 6 inch square ruler and it turned out they fit nearly perfectly around this medallion. I only had to trim one edge by about 1/2 inch to make it all fit. I think this would be a really cute baby quilt and I haven’t decided how to quilt it, so I’ll wait a bit.
