Today we celebrated Ryan's birthday about 5 weeks early because he really wanted a pool party and when we get back from the big trip the pool will be closed. Ryan also wanted to incorporate submarines into the celebration so we looked everywhere for a toy submarine to put on the cake. Finally, at the last moment we found a great battery powered one at a local toy store. As soon as we got home he couldn't wait to try it so he experimented in the hot tub. It took some fiddling to get it working right.
Later on Chloe decorated the cake while Ryan looked on. He tried out the icing tip afterwards on waxed paper. Maybe next year he'll decorate his cake himself.
Today the pool was perfect and we all had a great time. All of the kids are homeschoolers from our group.
