Sisters Quilt Show :: Liberated Quilts

019

With the Gee's Bend ladies coming to town, liberated quilts took front and center at the show this year.  This is the front of the Stitchin' Post.  The Gee's Bend quilters were sitting just to the right of this photo up on the porch.

All the quilts so far were made by the Gee's Bend quilters.  Below is a close up of the one behind the ladies in the photo above.

On the side of the Stitchin' Post building were hanging the SP employee challenge quilts.  This year their challenge was to create a quilt in the style of Gee's Bend, and they did not disappoint!

Here are a few of these close up.

I know that I probably posted many of these quilts, but I'm to tired to go back and check.  It's no hardship to get a good look at them again!  The quilt below is a raffle quilt that Jean Wells made.  Wish I'd won that one!

These next few are by Gwen Marston and Freddy Moran.  They are featured in their Collaborative Quilting books.

I have an urge to tie some quilts with wool yarn after seeing these!

The quilt below is by Tonye Belinda Phillips.  I think that bold, swirly border was an inspired choice.  What inspiration I get from looking at these photos again!
