In yesterday's post i mentioned feeling stressed about the upcoming move. Mindless sewing is one of my favorite ways to deal with that kind of stress. We were in a sort of holding pattern- it was too early to pack for the new house, but we weren't getting many showings of the old house. I spent nearly all of Ryan's March spring break week in the studio sewing stuff up. I had bins of partially pieced things, old orphan blocks and other stuff. I also had gone through the stash to choose fabrics I no longer wanted to keep. Just for fun, I am showing both the front and the back of each of these six quilts so you can see how I pieced the backings. All of them are baby/kid size. That's my favorite size to make and there's no shortage of kids who need something to cuddle with. They are all quilted with a simple meander and the binding is finished on the machine. I think they are bright and happy and I hope they'll be well used and loved. These first size have been donated to the Mt Bachelor Quilters' Guild Community Quilt program.
Lastly, here are two others that I created for the Soroptomist of Bend Community Baby Shower that they do every spring. Another string block quilt and an orphan block quilt. The house block was leftover from the class I taught and I managed to find some orphan blocks to go with it. That's the most liberated one of all, but isn't it fun! I hope you might be inspired to go to your stash and put something together to donate in your community.
