I'm teaching two classes at the Stitchin' Post this winter/spring.  The first is the Improv Feather class mentioned in the last post.  The other is Folk Art Animals on Saturday, February 27.  These are two samples for the class that you can see if you stop by the Stitchin' Post classroom.  This time I've simplified the class to one day and simplified the project.  I'll be teaching a bit about folk art design, but for those who may not want to develop their own animals, I will have some of my own designs for use.  I've also simplified the backgrounds and have started using a linen/cotton blend.  This is Essex natural which has a lovely weight to it.  You can also use any of the Mochi linens. I like the polka dot ones a lot.  These work well for the stitching we'll be doing.  I get so much enjoyment from making these creatures up as I go along and hope to get my students excited about it too!

I've turned these into small art quilts, but the blocks could be used in a child's quilt, for a pillow top, or they could be framed.  I have more ideas up my sleeve, so stay tuned for more creatures in February.

In the meantime, I'll be leaving the sparkling blue skies of Central Oregon to a place with blue water, swaying palms and beautiful beaches.  Follow me on Instagram if you want to see where I'm headed!
