One thing that kept me busy last month was a request for an interview with the team at Create Whimsy. If you’d like to read the interview you can see it here. The Create Whimsy website is full of lots of wonderful photos and interviews with creative people so I hope you’ll check it out. I am honored to be a part of it.
I needed to clean up my very messy studio for a photo for the interview. While I was doing that I thought I’d document the room for posterity since I’ll only be here for a couple more months. The ironing station and cutting station were purchased from Eddycrest Sewing Furniture in Canada. I love the two pieces I got, but if I had room I would have gotten the next size up cutting table. They are really well made, sturdy and look great. I can store all sorts of small items in the drawers too.
I put that really colorful quilt top up on the design wall just for the photo. I won’t actually have time to quilt that one for a while, but I wanted to show how useful a design wall is. I usually keep several things up there at a time. For me, thinking about what to do next takes more time than actually doing it. The design wall keeps it in mind while I do other tasks.
My sewing table is the portable SewEzi table. They also have a larger version which I may upgrade to at some point. I’ve been using my SewEzi table for years and I love it! Right now it is holding my Bernina 350 with the Tula Pink decoration.
I’ve been using a ball chair for several years now and it’s been really good for my back. The rolling cart is called Raskog by Ikea. I have two of them and I think they are so cute and useful in the studio.
My tiny art wall is really important to me. I have small works by many of my favorite artists.
I’m going to miss this long desk! The new house doesn’t have a lot of built-ins so we’ll need to do some furniture shopping.
I hope you enjoyed that look around the studio. If you look closely in the photos above you might have seen my newest book quilt on the ironing board. I plan to do a blog post about that soon too.
