This quilt is a small class sample. The piecing was started in a Modern Improv class this spring and I added the orange shot cotton once I decided on a composition. This will be a sample for future Improv classes. It includes all the techniques I like to teach in class: triangles (two ways), skinny strips and gentle curves.
My quilt is made (except the border) entirely from solid scraps. In many cases I used the scraps as they were. This is my favorite way to work!
I decided to hand quilt it and the quilting went pretty quickly. I still don't have time to hand quilt everything I'd like to, but it's nice to do it once in a while.
I have so many wonderful prints that I love, but don't use as much for the front of the quilt. They make fabulous backings though. The colors in this one really make me happy and I'll be able to recognize it easily from the back.
PS: Quilt entry is open for the Modern Quilt Guild Showcase at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. I figured, I've got quilts, I've got photos, why not enter? Entries are open until June 27. I entered Las Ventanas and Puzzling World.
