Mountain Meadows QG Log Cabin Challenge
There are many special exhibits at the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. In fact, it can be quite overwhelming. When there are well over 1000 quilts in a show it's impossible to see everything. So, these days I use the show guide to plan my day. It comes out in the local paper a couple of weeks ahead of time and it's like Christmas! I set it aside to savor when I have more time. Then I carefully mark down all the exhibits I want to see and note them on the map. I may even plan my route ahead of time. Luckily, in between all the special exhibits you are sure to come upon many beauties in the general submission part of the show. In Sisters there is really not any spot where you won't see quilts.
So, today I've posted some of the other special exhibits from the show. The first one is the Mountain Meadows Quilt Guild Log Cabin Challenge. This guild meets in Sunriver, Oregon, just south of Bend. I have been a member for the past two years and this year I made a special quilt just for this challenge. You may remember Dancing in the Streets from a little while ago. It was quite a lovely exhibit and I only show a select few quilts, but you can see they range from old fashioned to modern with everything in between.
Journeys
Journeys is a local art quilt group. These are accomplished art quilters and their exhibit is always amazing. I have many friends in this group and most of them are members of the local SAQA group as well. You can read about their challenge on the poster above.
Best of QuiltCon 2017
I didn't manage to get the label information on these quilts, but if you are interested you can always look at the QuiltCon website or my own QuiltCon posts to read more about these quilts. These quilts get a prime location on the main drag which is closed to traffic for the show. It's so great to have this wide street to view the quilts. The road was first closed to traffic several years ago, but I've lived here long enough to remember when the traffic drove through town during the show. These quilts were quite popular with the viewers, especially Mr. Lincoln there.
