The Picnic in the Park is always a highlight of Quilt Week for me. I did pay once for the meal and to sit inside the main area, but decided it was just fine to bring a picnic and watch the quilts from the back side of the gazebo. Luckily, we could hear everything just fine and we did get a great view of the quilts with no one to block our view. I took my kids and met with my friend, Sarah, and her kids to have a nice evening in Sisters. Above are some of the quilts made for the presentation of Quilters- The Musical.
All the rest of these quilts are from the Stitchin' Post's employee challenge. The challenge this year was to make a quilt in the style of the Gee's Bend Quilters. There were some really great liberated quilts, including the one made with denim above.
I love the liberated stars in this one.
This one has a great abstract design some interesting quilting designs.
I also got a bunch of photos of Gwen and Freddy's quilts, but don't have time to upload right now. The evening was just perfect. It actually sprinkled a bit before the quilts were brought out and cleared up just in time. More to come!
