Yesterday at work I got a call on my cell phone from Paducah, KY. I knew I had to take it because I had contacted AQS about getting my quilt above shipped back quickly after the AQS QuiltWeek Chattanooga show so I can get it to PIQF on time. I figured it was about that, but was so delighted to find out it was to inform me that Love in the Digital Age won 1st Place in the Wall Quilt-Modern category! What a surprise! They asked that I keep it to myself until today. It has been such a week of good news that I am pinching myself! You can see photos of the main winners and a list of the category winners here. I did a little google search to see the other winners in my category and they are stunning! I'm in excellent company- wow! All of the winners will be published in the next issue of American Quilter Magazine. I look forward to that!
Making things even sweeter, I saw that I missed a call last night from someone at the Northwest Quilting Expo. This show takes place next week- September 24-26 in Portland, Oregon. I have these two quilts in the show- Shattered Dresden and Bright Lights, Big City. I wondered what the call could be about. I hoped there wasn't a problem with my quilts because it seemed to early for someone to call with a prize notice. Today I called back and found out it was to tell me that Shattered Dresden got 2nd Place in the Modern Quilt category! My jaw just dropped! What wonderful news! Unfortunately, I am not in Chattanooga and I won't be able to attend the Expo either. I will be in a Gwen Marston workshop next week and it's also my son's birthday. I hope my quilts have fun without me. If only wall (quilts) could talk!
