This piece was started and finished on Wednesday when the news came out about Elizabeth Warren being silenced from reading a letter by Coretta Scott King on the floor of the senate. I was outraged by this, along with thousands of others around the country. These words took on a life of their own and you'll find many, many artists were inspired. This is the first sewing I've done since November.
This piece was created with a thrifted linen woman's shirt that I overdyed several years ago when I was hand dying a lot. I cut the buttons off the placket and added them back after the piece was finished. It measures 13" x 6". It's all hand stitched except the line of white stitching and the floral embroidery that were already on the fabric.
