Here are the other bags I mentioned in my previous post. This is a group of 6 drawstring bags (4 small and 2 large). They are made from fabric remnants and scraps leftover from a bag making frenzy a number of years ago. These bags include some of my favorite neutral prints on cotton/linen blend fabric which is more substantial than quilting cotton. The vintage cameras, owls, flowers and Alice in Wonderland prints are some real favorites.
As with all these patchwork bags they are one of a kind because I use improvisational piecing to create them. I wouldn’t be able to repeat them even if I wanted too. This makes the construction of each bag an exciting process because I never know where it will lead.
These bags are fully lined, but constructed differently than the original bags. The small ones are flat drawstring bags (no boxed bottom). They could hold a small yarn project, or other small items and would be lovely gift bags. The two larger bags are big enough for a medium size yarn project. The Alice bag is quilted with batting so it can stand up. The owl bag has no batting so it’s floppier, but perhaps better for packing. I still have leftovers of these fabrics and will likely make more bags at some point, though each one will be different.
Every time I make patchwork items I am reminded how far scraps will go. The scrap bin seems to be just as full as before, but I’ll keep working away at it. Have a great weekend!
