Our trip to Portland was very nice because it was just Chloe and I. We went shopping and since it was beautiful on Thursday and Friday we could walk around downtown and not even get wet! I discovered that Portland has a Fiber Arts District that was very close to our hotel and we made it to several of the shops including Knit-Purl and the Button Emporium.
I bought something from each shop. I forgot to get a photo of the yarn, but I got some of the new Sea Silk from Hand Maiden Yarns (readers in Canada: . It's to die for! I also got some Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in red for an Irish Hiking Scarf that I think will go quite nicely with the new fingerless mitts.
We were staying right downtown so we could walk to everything. We ended up shopping during the free time we had. The reason for the trip was doctor's appointments for Chloe. It turns out we need to go again in about a month for Chloe to have a test done, so maybe we'll have more time to do stuff.
We had a lovely morning in Powell's City of Books and came away with several purchases. My new book is all about making books. All this papercraft has got me very interested in book making, especially the unusual forms. It's a great one because it has good photos of the process and some techniques explained that I didn't know about. It's called Books Unbound by Michael Jacobs.
Have a very warm and wonderful Thanksgiving! See you in December.
