Waiau Waterworks turned out to be one of those wonderful little gems that you run into when you allow a trip to be spontaneous. This was the kids' favorite activity of the trip, and, as you'll soon see, the adults had a pretty good time too. The Waterworks is an activity center built on a large property with gardens, a stream running through, playgrounds and some animals too. The water features were created with everyday objects and are a perfect example of Kiwi ingenuity. In fact, if we could have something like this in our town, I'm sure our homeschooling group would be there every week!
Everywhere we went we found things to do and ways to get your sister/brother/dad soaking wet!
We even saw some sweet little alpacas, though there wasn't any fiber for sale.
This zipline was a huge hit, though much tamer than the one we found later.
Have you ever wondered how kiwis grow? These vines were dripping with the fuzzy fruits.
