A couple of weeks ago, on a whim, I was checking out the newest AAQI quilts for sale and was delighted to find several by Andrea Balosky for sale. I had to think quick and decide which one to get. I wish I could have gotten them all, but Andrea's quilts go for big bucks! This is Strata Various and it was the one that grabbed me immediately. I thought you might like to see the back. I love this dot fabric. I also love the note that Andrea stitched in the corner. I will keep it there.
A couple of days later I found out that I had just beat out Wonkyworld blog author, Bill Volckening, on this quilt. He managed to get two others by Andrea though. Bill has written several times about Andrea. There are two of these posts here and here. After reading Bill's inspiring posts about Andrea, I just had to get myself a copy of the little book about her Small Wonder quilts.
Also, I finally made the connection that Bill was the one who bought my 10,000 AAQI quilt! Bill is a quilt collector and has some really amazing quilts in his collection. I'm proud that my little butterfly quilt is included in such a collection.
This is my other Andrea Balosky quilt, called Tuesday and Saturday. The two together make a nice pair!
To top of all the excitement about these quilts, I was thrilled to hear from Andrea, aka Nyima, and to find out that she will be here for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in a few weeks. I hope that we'll be able to meet in person. What a thrill that will be!
