Just a quick update about how my plans have changed for the rest of the year. As you can see above (or if you follow me on social media), I broke my right wrist a couple of weeks ago. I’ve had surgery and I’m on the mend, but I did have to close my Etsy shops for a bit. They are open again now with slightly longer shipping times since I’m still not driving. My husband will have to help get packages to the Post Office so I’ve allowed a little leeway for that. If you’d like to take a look see the shop buttons at the end of this post.
In other news, while we were originally planning to move at the end of October our move date has been pushed out to January. A couple of months ago, on the day we were supposed to close on the house we were to buy we discovered there was a major issue with the land title. The upshot was that we had to get out of that contract and find a new house. My husband spent most of September in Massachusetts looking at houses. We finally made an agreement on a house we had seen way back in June. However, that house won’t close until mid January so we will be here until then. Needless to say, it’s been a stressful couple of months. We did attend my daughter’s wedding in early October and it was a lovely, relaxing weekend in Julian, California. I’ll post a few photos about that next time.
I broke my wrist a few days after the wedding so all my fall plans went out the window. Alas, ornament stitching plans will likely not come to pass. In my Kristin Shields Art shop I have added a couple of handmade journals to my shop which you can see below. I found them while starting to pack my studio. I’ve also created an ornament section which has older painted and stitched ornaments and there’s a Christmas section with lots of Christmas cards and a few handmade items. There are still a number of quilts and other hand stitched items perfect for gifts. In my KMS Handmade shop I’ve got a small selection of handmade bags, pincushions and scarves. I plan to keep the shops open until the first week of December to assure arrival of orders in time for the holidays. After that the shops will remain closed until after we are settled, which will probably be sometime in February. Please plan accordingly and be aware that some items may not be back in the shop after the move even if they haven’t sold (especially the quilts).
Right now I am taking it easy, but I did manage to do some lefthanded cross stitch after the surgery. I finished this piece as a gift for my mom’s 80th birthday. She’ll probably get it a month too late, but I do have a frame on order. I can’t manage scissors at this point though I might have to invest in a pair of left handed ones just so I can get a few things done. My family has been super helpful and thankfully my husband doesn’t have a lot of work travel coming up. I’m so grateful for modern medicine without which I might not get back full function in this hand and wrist. Thanks for reading if you’ve made it this far!
