This past year we have been busier than ever and that (along with the big move) has kept me from having a consistent studio practice. I am finally getting my studio to a place that’s functional. I purchased some new Ikea furniture to sort out my organization (see below). I still have some other things to do to get the shelves organized, but it’s coming along nicely. I also need to get artwork up on the walls. I plan to do that this winter as I settle in for the quiet period of the year.
For the first time ever I’ve had enough studio space to do a little Christmas decorating in my studio and that was really nice. Hopefully I can keep this space clear for everyday decorations that make this space inviting. A cluttered and messy studio makes it hard for me to think and enjoy the process of creating.
I am not sure if I’ve mentioned this here before, but I actually have a two room studio now. This is a 5 bedroom house so we have all the rooms we need for us, Ryan and a guest room. The last two are just for me. It’s been an adjustment. I often am going back and forth because I’ve left something I need in the other room. I love having all the space, but a single large room would be even more ideal.
This room is the one where I keep my computer and paper crafting supplies. The other one is for sewing. I’ll do a proper studio tour when I get the artwork on the walls. I’ll probably always be trying to improve the organization, but I do want to get quilts and other artwork up before the big reveal.
Today I updated my Etsy listings and turned the shop back on. I’ve put several items at clearance prices, but they are in several different shop sections. If you want to see only the clearance items you can type clearance into the search bar for my shop and you’ll see all of them. Any items purchased this holiday weekend will ship on Tuesday.
We had a wonderful Christmas here with a visit from Chloe and Derek. We also had Mark’s family over on Christmas eve. Its was so nice to finally be able to host them. From our house to yours, I hope you had a lovely holiday season and are looking forward to a wonderful 2023!
