Last fall Chloe participated in a contest put on by Patternworks catalog. The contest was to create blankets that would be donated to shelter animals. Chloe was all for that and the thought of winning a prize was just the icing on the cake. Just a few weeks ago she remembered the contest and thought that since she hadn't heard anything, she probably didn't win.
Weren't we suprised then to get a package in the mail the other day with several Patternworks Spring catalogs and a gift certificate for $100! She was thrilled to find out that she took second place. Her blanket is on display in the Patternworks shop in Center Harbor, NH and then will be donated to the Snuggles Project.
If you don't know about Patternworks it's part of the Keepsake Quiting and Needle Arts group now. For years we've spent time most summers at Squam Lake in central NH and I always made a trip to Keepsake Quilting. A few years ago they bought the Patternworks catalog and opened a yarn shop in the same location. It's a pretty fun place to shop if you're ever in the Lakes Region.
So if you get the Spring catalog, take a look at the contest article. It was interesting to note that of the 6 kids who won, 3 are homeschooled. Keepsake Quilting also has these contests every so often and I've never entered one. I feel like I really should. My goodness, $100 can go a long way! Chloe is planning her next knitting project and how to spend that money. She may even let me use a little bit of it! Congratulations, Chloe!
